Extension 3229. SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS : Sources are sought to
purchase a custom vacuum dewar with supporting equipment and to package
a 512 x 512 monolithic thin filmed resistor array. The Wright
Laboratory, Armament Directorate, Munition Seeker and Evaluation
Technology Branch, MNGI, Eglin AFB, FL has a requirement to package
existing resistor array material developed under the Wideband Infrared
Scene Projector Contract FO8635-93-C-0081. Resistor arrays need to be
cut from the existing wafers and packaged for additional testing
requirements. The custom vacuum dewar package required includes the
structure to house the resistor array, the cooling block, the Infrared
(1.5 microns - 12.0 microns) window for the package, the PC board, the
vacuum valves, and the mating connectors. Prospective sources should
provide evidence of their experience with successfully packaging 512 x
512 resistor arrays. It is anticipated that the period of performance
will be for 2 months. Responses are due 15 days from the date of
synopsis publication. This synopsis is for planning purposes only, it
does not constitute an IFB or RFP, and is not to be construed as a
commitment by the government. Firms responding to this synopsis should
state whether they are or are not a small business concern or small
disadvantaged business concern as defined in FAR 52.219-1 and FAR
52.219-2. The SIC code for this effort is 8731. The Air Force reserves
the right to consider a small business set-aside based upon the
responses submitted. This requirement may be purchased from a sole
source if the Air Force determines that only one source is capable of
satisfying the requirements. An Ombudsman has been established for this
acquisition. The only purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and
communicate serious concerns from potential offerors when an offeror
prefers not to use established channels to communicate his concern
during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. Potential
offerors should use established channels to request information, pose
questions, and voice concerns before resorting to use of the Ombudsman.
