842-6719 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contemplates
awarding a contract to design and conduct a case-control study of the
effect of total dietary folate intake on the clinical presentation of
Vitamin B12 deficiency. The successful offeror shall develop case
definitions, devise a mechanism for identifying cases and selecting
controls, develop dietary assessment instruments, and develop a plan
for rapid, prospective interviewing of cases and control. A database
with hematologic, clinical, dietary, and sociodemographic data on cases
and controls shall be delivered to the Government. The following
criteria MUST be met in order to be considered for award under this
solicitation: (1) Offeror must provide documentation which demonstrates
participant enrollment of two million or more, (2) At least 25 percent
of the enrolled participants must be 50 years old or older, and (3)
The offeror must document an average of 1000 incident cases of Vitamin
B12 deficiency per calendar year. NOTE: A specialized center receiving
referrals for diagnosis or retirement will NOT be considered, since the
patient population is not representative of the underlying population
of at-risk individuals. The scheduled issue date is approximately
