COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 20,1995 PSA#1266THE 1995 RESOURCE MATCHING PROGRAM The competitiveness of U.S.
companies is of critical importance to our economic well being.
Increasingly open international markets and decreasing government
defense procurements present growing challenges to company profits and
retaining a sound business base. In response, companies are focusing
on their core competencies to develop new markets and new technologies.
The goal of the Resource Matching Program is to simplify your task of
finding definitive technical, legal, financial, and marketing
assistance to augment your own expertise and to complement your current
growth strategies. To do this, we have coordinated with an extensive
array of public and private sector organizations to provide you with
information on how to finance your exports, commercialize promising
technologies, or penetrate new commercial or defense markets. This
multifaceted program consists of a series of workshops, surveys, and
trade and investment publications that provide tangible assistance on
these and other issues to small firms, prime contractors,
subcontractors, and communities. We bring together the combined
resources of over 60 organizations to present concise and affordable
workshops and resource materials for companies faced with limited time
and budgets. Participants in these workshops will have a opportunity
to ask executives and government experts about the strategies they
pursued, the challenges they overcame, and the successes they achieved.
While this comprehensive initiative was designed with the defense
industry in mind, companies in other industries can benefit
significantly from participation. This initiative is led by the United
States Department of Commerce's Bureau of Export Administration. It is
an outgrowth of a pilot program initiated in 1994 to assist
defense-dependent companies in California diversify into new commercial
or international markets. Over 1,100 individuals attended these
programs last year. February 15, 1995: The U.S. Department of
Commerce's BXA West 1995 Resource Matching Program will offer an
``Intellectual Property Rights, Patents and Trade Secrets'' Workshop.
This workshop will offer small to medium sized companies, and
individual inventors and inventor organizations information regarding
intellectual property protection and the impact it can have on
promoting innovation and trade featuring Patent Attorneys from the U.S.
