COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 20,1995 PSA#1266HIGH-RESOLUTION TELEMETRY Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos
National Laboratories, lead laboratories for the Department of Energy
weapons development, are looking for one or more companies interested
in pursuing development opportunities in the area of high-resolution
telemetry. Businesses with experience or an interest in conceptual
design, development, and evaluation of Kalman filtering, fuzzy logic,
neural networks methodologies and their implementation in integrated
software solutions to location and tracking problems are encouraged to
respond. The initial market is for DoD and DOE military applications,
but the advanced concepts are expected to have substantial industrial
and commercial applicability in both business and consumer markets.
Related research and development is underway in various systems
engineering and development organizations at Los Alamos and Sandia,
spanning weapons design, sensor system engineering, transportation
system management, and robotics. Sandia and Los Alamos, operating under
a prime contract with the Department of Energy, is formally tasked to
transfer laboratory-developed technologies to US private sector
entities for commercialization. These efforts may result in Cooperative
Research and Development Agreements (CRADAs) or other types of
agreements, including the DOE's Work for Others agreement depending on
the needs. In accordance with current legislation, Sandia is
particularly interested in establishing agreements with small
businesses and when selecting recipients for laboratory-generated
technologies will give preference to firms substantially manufacturing
the technology in the U.S. For further information regarding these
technologies or to express your interest, fax a request to (505)
