Salzman, 703/695-4858; Contracting Officer, Alex Graham The Defense Supply Service-Washington, on behalf of the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), intends to recompete the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) contract, MDA903-85-D-0102, currently being performed by Electronic Data Systems, the incumbent. This ongoing effort is the result of a Congressional directive to the Department of Defense, dating back to the late 1970s, to implement a new, more secure identification (ID) card system to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse associated with obtaining benefits available to the members of the Uniformed Services and their family members. The following services are integral parts of this requirement: hardware maintenance and equipment installation, relocation and deinstallation at muis notice. All requests for this solicitation must be in writing, referencing the solicitation number and must be received no later than 15 days after publication of this synopsis.
