286-6843. THIS Is A REISSUANCE OF THE NOTICE PUBLISHED ON DECEMBER 12,
1995. THIS NOTICE Is TO INFORM CONTRACTORS THAT THE PROCUREMENT
SOLICITATION TITLED ABOVE WILL NOW Be RELEASED ON OR ABOUT FEBRUARY 3,
1995, AND Is NOW BEING ISSUED ON A COMPETITIVE BASIS. NASA/GSFC
intends to issue Request for Proposal (RFP)5-14754/237 on or about
February 3, 1995 on a competitive basis to develop, test, and deliver
one Autonomous Star Tracker (AST) that uses a Charged Coupled Device
(CCD) for a detector and autonomously recognizes the inertial
orientation of its boresight axis. The AST shall be delivered to
Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) for integration into a sounding
rocket as an experimental payload. The star tracker must be capable of
surviving the sounding rocket flight environments and delivering the
inertial attitude quaternion data to the rocket's telemetry system at
a 5 Hz rate. The flight will attempt to prove that the unit can operate
in the ''stars in, quaternion out'' mode. The star tracker must be
capable of performing autonomous inertial attitude acquisition without
a priori attitude knowledge within 5 seconds. NASA/GSFC anticipates
awarding a firm fixed price contract, and delivery of the unit will be
within 7 months of award followed by 3 months of launch support. Firms
desiring consideration may request, in writing, a copy of the
solicitation, within 15 days of the publication of this notice, to Ms.
