The Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is seeking sources and a cost estimate from firms capable of disposing of an ex-Navy decontamination barge containing radioactively contaminated material. The barge is 126 feet long, 34 feet wide, 25 feet high and weighs 1,500,000 pounds. A site visit to inspect the barge will be held at NNSY on 31 January 1995 at 8:00 a.m. While inspecting the barge, representatives will enter radiation areas and will be required to be monitored. During the site visit representatives will be provided additional information for submittal of cost estimates for planning purposes only. Interested parties must be authorized to receive and handle radioactive material and sign an NNPI Certification provided by NNSY. In order to be included in the site visit, representatives must be U.S. citizens. The name, social security number, date of birth and location of birth must be provided for each representative attending the site visit. The information should be faxed to (804) 396-8318, Attn: Nancy Hassell-Sitar, Code 531, prior to 1:00 p.m. (EST) on 30 January 1995 in order for security badges to be prepared prior to your arrival. Representatives should report to the Security Office at Gate 15 Main Gate for badging. From the Security Office the representatives are to assemble in the Purchase Div., Code 530 Conference Room, Bldg. 1500, 2nd Floor.
