COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 24,1995 PSA#1268CLARIFYING CERTIFICATION FOR WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESSES Presented by The
American Woman's Economic Development Corporation (AWED), in
cooperation with the Washington District Office of the U.S. Small
Business Administration. Join AWED for a major forum on the topic of
certification for women-owned businesses. Presented with assistance
from the Washington District Office of the U.S. Small Business
Administration and Fannie Mae. This informative seminar will help clear
up some of the confusion that surrounds the ``certification'' of
woman-owned small businesses: which companies and agencies certify
woman-owned businesses; whom to contact; the qualifications for
certification; the processes; the benefits of being certified; and the
types of goods or services these companies and agencies purchase. Plan
for an evening of networking, expert panels, match-making services and
a marketplace featuring the government agencies and private companies
in the Washington metropolitan area who are looking for ``certified''
women-owned small businesses for contract opportunities. Various
companies and agencies will be represented at the conference. Included
are Fannie Mae, the Small Business Development Centers of Northern
Virginia and Suburban Washington, the Maryland Department of
Transportation, Montgomery County, the Washington Airports Authority,
AMTRAK, the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services and more. On:
Wednesday, February 22. From: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The seminar is
being held at Fannie Mae headquarters, located at 3900 Wisconsin Ave
NW, in Washington, DC. Cost: $20, (payable to AWED, 1250 24th St. NW,
Washington, DC 20037). Please call (202) 857-0091 for information and
reservations. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0390 19950123\SP-0002.MSC)
