Z -- PROTECTIVE COATING SYSTEM FOR THE 40 X 80 WIND TUNNEL, PHASE 3 SOL IFB2-36291(VDG) DUE 031495 POC Contact Point, Chris Wolfe, 415/604-1442, Contracting Officer, Vivienne D. Gallo, 415/604-5808 The successful Contractor shall provide materials, equipment, and labor for the surface preparation and application of coatings to exterior surfaces of NASA's 40 X 80 Wind Tunnel. The Contractor is advised that the stuctural steel is coated with a red lead primer that has been determined to contain 14 percent lead by weight. In addition, the transite and galbestos siding on vast areas of the wind tunnel, if abraded, poses a potential asbestos hazard. Specified procedures shall be observed throughout the course of this contract. Contractor shall be responsible for the removal containment/capture, on-site handling/storage, and the disposal of the red lead hazardous waste. Exterior items to be coated include the following: Structural steel, ladders, stairs, platforms, rails, guardrails, and catwalks, drain gutters and down spouts below aerodynamic ceiling line conduits and miscellaneous piping attached to the tunnel doors, door frames and window frames, roll- up and sliding doors and frames, all attached miscellaneous steel, and all other attached ferrous items. The project consists of a Base Bid and four (4) Options. The period of performance for the Base Bid is 120 calendar days. Each option, if exercised, will be an additional 30 calendar days each. Magnitude of Construction: Between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The place of performance is NASA-Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA 94035-1000.
