A -- ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM WORKSHOP SOL Q- DUE 020995 POC Technical Contact: David S. King (301) 975-2369 or Linda Beth Schilling (301) 975-2887 Advanced Technology Program: ADVANCED SEPARATIONS TECHNOLOGIES Focused Program Development Workshop on February 23, 1995. This one-day workshop is sponsored by the NIST Advanced Technology Program and the NIST Chemical Science and Technology Laboratory. The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Administration Building (101), Green Auditorium at NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to identify and refine the technical and economic basis for a possible ATP focused program recommendation in separations technologies. The objective of this workshop is to provide an open forum for more detailed discussions of the critical technical and economic issues in this area, leading to the development of a focused program recommendation. Attendance is encouraged for technical and business specialists with interests as developers and manufacturers of separations technology, as well as users of technology in the chemical, refining, electronic, food, pulp and paper, and pharmaceutical industries. The strength of a focused program recommendation is in the combination of technological innovation and evidence of clear pathways to economic impact. Results from this workshop and related white papers will form the basis for developing a focused program recommendation in separation technologies. Therefore, we invite you to revise or submit a 5-10 page white paper. In the white paper, please address the following four ATP selection criteria for focused programs: 1) high-risk R&D; 2) broad benefit to the U.S. economy; 3) the unique role of ATP and the need for ATP support; and 4) industry commitment to utilizing and commercializing the technology. For a copy of the ATP Guide for Program Ideas, call the ATP HOTLINE: (800) ATP-FUND or (800) 287-3863; e-mail: atp@micf.nist.gov; or fax: (301) 926-9524. White papers for focused program recommendations are NOT requests for project funding and are often widely disseminated and discussed at open forums such as this workshop. Therefore, white papers MUST BE NON- PROPRIETARY. For inclusion in the draft program recommendation, white papers must be received by February 2, 1995. Send white paper submissions to: Dr. David S. King, NIST/ATP, Building 101, Room A430, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-0001. White papers submitted after that date will be incorporated as time allows. Technical questions can be addressed to: David S. King, (301) 975-2369 (king@enh.nist.gov), or Linda Beth Schilling, (301) 975-2887 (schillin@micf.nist.gov). For business development, marketing, and economic impact questions contact: Subhash Kuvelker, (301) 975-5498 (kuvelker@micf.nist.gov).
