The work of this contract consists of removal and replacement of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, and humidity controls; removal and replacement of lighting and electrical systems; removal and replacement of electronic security and communications systems; removal and replacement of plumbing systems; removal and replacement of fire protection and smoke/heat detection alarm systems; installation of bird oontrol systems; removal and replacement of architectural finishes in order to perform the above noted building modifications; removal of asbestos-containing materials, lead-based paint and suspect PCB light ballasts; structural repairs and reinforcement of selected areas of building structure. This work will be performed on various buildings within Independence Square. All requests for project documents must be made in writing. A non-refundable bid deposit for project documents is $250 per set, 3 set maximum, in the form of a cashier's check, certified check, or money order made payable to the National Park Service. Project Documents may aslo be viewed at various plan rooms. For quality control purposes, the Government will provide samples of work elements to be used as the standard for evaluating the quality of finished project work. The samples will be availale for review in Room 203 of Old City Hall and on the First Floor Galleries of Congress Hall and Old City Hall, on Chestnut Street between 5th and 6th Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These rooms will be open between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, five days per week. An appointment is necessary, contact Jean Marra at 215/597-5550 to make an appointment. Individuals wishing to receive a list of plan rooms should contact the issuing office. A pre-bid conference will convene at 9:00 a.m. on February 23, 1995, in the auditorium of the park visitor center, located on the southeast corner of 3rd and Chestnuts Streets, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. All Bidders are encouraged to attend. Persons participating in the pre-bid site meeting should be aware that asbestos-containing material has been identified on the project. Estimated price range, over $10,000,000. Time for completion, 1,100 calendar days. Bid opening date is approximate; actual date will be established at the time bidding documents are available.
