in 1962 the mine was put on care-and-maintance in 1987 as a result of
a restructuring program in the holding company, Zccm Zccm says
feasibility studies at chambishi mine show that reopening the mine
would be viable using modern mining methods the sale of the chambishi
mine is in line with the government of Zambia's privatization program
of the Copper mining industries we note that this sale is part of
Zccm's restructuring plan which also includes sale of the lead and zinc
mine and facilities at kabwe (see Lusaka 6962 of November 21, 1994)
