RFP AVAILABLE FOR FACILITY(IES) And SERVICES FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND TECHNICAL MANIPULATIONS Of RABBITS--RFP-NIH-NIAID-DIR-95-51 --REVISION To PREVIOUS SYNOPSIS OF 10/03/94-- The Division of Intramural Research of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has a requirement for the care, breeding and technical manipulation of an established herd of approximately 480 genetically defined rabbits within Contractor animal facilities. Rabbits will be housed in cages provided by the Government. Care of rabbits must be in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, NIH, publication No. 86-23, Revised 1985. Rabbits will be used in immunologic experiments involving up to 4,500 injections per year and approximately 5,000 blood collections per year, and exchange transfusions. In order to assure the delivery of fresh blood samples and newborn rabbits, the facility must be within 1 hour of the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland and the NIAID Twinbrook II satellite facility in Rockville, Maryland by way of normally traveled routes. Any contract awarded will be subject to DHHS regulations regarding the use of human (animal) subjects in research. The issuance of the RFP will be on or about January 26, 1995, and proposals will be due COB February 28, 1995.
