COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JANUARY 30,1995 PSA#1272NETHERLANDS: BELT WEIGHERS, AUTOMATIC MACHINES. The following
notification has been received in Gatt document TBT/Notification 94.492
dated 22 December 1994. 1. Party to agreement notifying: Netherlands.
2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Economic Affairs. 3. Notified under
article 2.5.2. 4 Products covered (HS or CCCN where applicable,
otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be provided in
addition, where applicable): belt weighers, automatic rail-weighbridges
and discontinuous totalizing automatic weighing instruments. 5. Title
and number of pages of the notified document: Regulations governing
Automatic Machines (weights) and Measures Regulation on Automatic
Machines) (11 pages). 6. Description of Content: The national
regulations governing belt weighers and discontinuous totalizing
automatic weighing instruments as incorporated in the weights and
measures regulation on belt weighers and the weights and measures
regulation on weighing machines for weighing are to be replaced by OIML
recommendations R 50, 1994 edition and R 107, 1993 edition. In
addition, OIML recommendation R 106, 1993 edition, is prescribed for
automatic rail-weighbridges. 7. Objective and Rationale: Welmec, a
collaboration between the metrological services of EU and EFTA
countries, has laid down as one of its aims the voluntary harmonization
of OIML recommendations. This intention has thus far been restricted to
automatic weighing machines and is being implemented in the Netherlands
by making the OIML recommendation compulsory in the national inspection
procedures. By adopting OIML recommendation R 106, suppliers of
automatic rail-weighbridges will be able to introduce their products
onto the market in the normal way as provided for in the Weights and
Measures Act. 8. Relevant Documents: Weights and Measures Act, Weights
and Measures Order, Weights and Measures Regulation on Belt Weighers
(STORT. 1989, 83), Weights and Measures Regulation on Weighing Machines
for Weighing (STORT. 1989, 83). 9. Proposed date for adoption and entry
into force: 1 March 1995. 10. Final date for comments: 10 February
