Request for Offer (RFO) for fourier transform infrared (FTIR)
spectrometer for the measurement of total and spectral emissivities of
undercooled liquid metals per the following salient characteristics:
(1) Device shall be capable of measuring radiation spectrum generated
from a hot external source, therefore emphasis shall be placed on the
instrument's emission measurement capability -- (2) Wavelength range
shall be less than 0.2 to 20 microns (approx 50,000 to 500 cm-1) with
primary range of interest from 0.6 to 20 microns (16,000 to 500 cm-1)
-- (3) Resolution shall be less than 1 cm-1) -- (4) Emission aperture
shall be less than 1 inch -- (5) Sources for transmission spectroscopy
shall be included though primary use is emission measurement -- (6)
Operating system shall be 486-based with inclusion of all software
necessary for calibration and background elimination -- Quantity 1
system -- FOB destination NASA/George C. Marshall Space Flight Center,
AL 35812 -- Delivery 60 days -- This procurement is being conducted
under the NASA/MSFC MidRange Pilot Test Program approved by the Office
of Federal Procurement Policy on April 16, 1993 -- Requests for copies

acceptable -- RFO will be released on or about 15 days after
