COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 1,1995 PSA#1274Contracts Management Branch, National Institute of Neurological
Disorders and Stroke, NIH, Federal Building, Room 901, 7550 Wisconsin
Avenue, MSC 9190, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-9190 A -- TRANSGENIC RAT MODEL FOR STROKE RESEARCH SOL BAA/RFP No.
NIH-NINDS-95-11 due 041795. Point of Contact, Raina Cervantes,
301/496-1813, Contracting Officer, Kirkland Davis, 301/496-9203. The
National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), NIH
will under a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA)/Request For Proposals
(RFP), solicit proposals for developing transgenic rats as an
experimental model for the study of cerebral ischemia and stroke in the
central nervous system. The term `transgenic rat' is used here broadly
to include rats which demonstrate overexpression of genes, deletion of
genes (gene knock-out), or alteration in the expression patterns of
genes that may be involved in the cellular injury or repair of brain
cells within the central nervous system following cerebral ischemia.
Independent design and construction of transgenic rats for research
concerning the diagnosis, pathophysiology, pathogenesis, treatment
and/or prevention of stroke is required. Offerors are required to have
existing, appropriate and available transgenic research facilities.
Performance of work under this project will involve personnel with
established expertise in molecular biology, neurosciences, molecular
genetics, and physiology. It is anticipated that two (2) multi-year
cost reimbursement type contracts will be awarded for a maximum period
of four years each. This is not a Request for Proposals. Request for
Proposals (RFP) No. NIH-NINDS-95-11 will be issued on or about February
17, 1995 as a Broad Agency Announcement as defined in FAR 6.102(d)(2)
and 35.016. Proposals will be due approximately sixty days after
issuance of the BAA/RFP. Written requests for a copy of the BAA/RFP
must cite the RFP number referenced above. Please supply this office
with two (2) self-addressed mailing labels. All responsible sources may
submit a proposal which shall be consideredd by the Government. (025) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0008 19950131\A-0008.SOL)
