The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) seeks a contractor to provide a particle monitoring system to measure size distribution of ambient particles. The system must meet the following specifications: measure particles in ambient air with suitable inlets to correctly measure particles between 0.01 and at least 20 um for particle concentrations between 10 and at least 10 particles per cm3; provide at least a resolution of 16 channels per decade with higher resolutions selectable with computer software; time intervals for integrated sample acquisition period to be operator selectrable within the range of 1 minute to 1 hour; able to run with minimum intervention of operator with respect to sampling setup, flow monitoring; able to run for at least 25 hours without operator intervention under ambient conditions of up to 150 ug/m3; data files must be stored on hard drive with a storage capacity of at least 30 days of data at 1 minute sampling intervals; able to acquire and display data simultaneously; include a single data acquisition and processing system for acquiring and processing data from 0.01 to at least 20 um; all equipment must fit within the standard of 19'' instrument racks; must be calibrated with polystyrene/latex spheres; and operate at 120 Volts AC. The government anticipates a frm fixed-price type contract. RFP D500r248M1 is expected to be released on or about March 1, 1995. This is a 100% small business setaside.
