Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to acquire from
Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI), Falcon Microsystems (dealer of Silicon
Graphics), or any other SGI dealer, Workstations, associated hardware,
and software. All items are on GSA Schedule #GS00K95AG55528. The
contractor shall provide Indigo^2 high-performance graphics
workstations running the IRIX operating system. SGI owns the copyright
for the IRIX operating system and associated graphics libraries. The
system shall run highly specialized, platform-specific CAD software
owned by NIST. The software will only run on the SGI/IRIX platform. The
items to procure are the following: 1.) SGI Indigo^2 Extreme
Workstation, 150/75MHz (minimum) CPU, 64Mb (minimum) RAM, 2Gb System
Disk, 20'' Color Monitor, Internal CD-ROM, Internal 20Mb Floptical
Drive (2 ea.); 2.) Galileo Video Board for Indigo^2 (1 ea.); 3.)
Network File System (NFS) Right-To-Use License for IRIX 5.x (2 ea.);
4.) IRIS Development Option (IDO) Right-To-Use License for IRIX 5.x (2
ea.); 5.) In Person Video Conference Software (1 ea.); 6.) Open
Inventor Software (2 ea.); and 7.) SpaceBall and Application Drivers (1
ea.). All products shall be new and currently announced. Delivery is
required within 30 days after date of contract award--FOB destination
Gaithersburg, MD. As part of the response, firms interested in
responding to this notice must submit a capabilities statement with
convincing documentation that the requirements can be met. At a
minimum, firms must also supply a complete listing of all items
proposed, including prices, complete specifications of the items, and
documentation supporting the capabilities in sufficient detail to
permit technical evaluation of the offer. All of the aforementioned
must be received for the Government to consider whether to open this
requirement for competition. This notice of intent is not a request for
competitive proposals. However, all capability statements received
within 45 days after date of preparation of this synopsis, will be
