A -- MUNITION DEMILITARIZATION SOL DAAE30-95-BAA-0002 DUE 031095 POC Paul Milenkowic, Contracting Officer, 201-724-5391. A Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) is expected to be released for a research investigation to improve methods for removing explosive materials from steel projectiles. The intent is to solicit new technologies, which can be combinations of the existing technologies, modifications of them or entirely new processes. This research is expected to provide a process by which the goals of higher rates of processing, reduced contamination of recovered materials, ease of process machinery cleanup, reduced machinery maintenance downtime, reduced number of operators, and lower processing cost per item would be attainable. It is desired to have a process by which a maximum amount of explosive materials may be recovered which would be suitable for reuse and that a minimum of contaminated materials and hazardous by products are created. The range of projectiles sizes is from 60 mm mortar cartridges to 8 inch projectiles and the explosive material may include but are not limited to: TNT, Comp 3, octol, cyctol, etc. Copy of this BAA is available upon written request to the attention of Paul Milenkowic, Contracting Officer, at the address indicated above.
