notification has been received in GATT Document TBT/Notification 94.508
dated 31 December 1994. 1. Party to agreement notifying: Netherlands.
2. Agency responsible: Ministry of Transport and Public Works. 3.
Notified under Article 2.5.2. 4. Products covered (HS or CCCN where
applicable, otherwise national tariff heading. ICS numbers may be
provided in addition, where applicable): satellite emergency radio
beacons (EPIRBS) for determining position and direction. 5. Title and
number of pages of the notified document: NL-ETS 300 152 specification
of minimum requirements for maritime radio communications equipment,
satellite emergency radio beacons, EPIRBS, operating on 121,5 MHZ or
121,5 MHZ and 243 MHZ for directional location. 6. Description of
content: the technical regulation contains the minimum requirements
with which satellite emergency radio beacons (EPIRBS), operating on
121,5 MHZ or 121,5 MHZ and 243 MHZ for directional location shall
comply. The requirements are entirely based on European Standard ETS
300 152. 7. Objective and rationale: in addition to the objective of
preventing trading restrictions by introducing new European technical
regulations, obligations pursuant to international treaties (IMO),
intended to increase the safety of the ship and its crew (Solas
Convention), shall apply. 8. Relevant documents: Radio-Electrical
Equipment Order (STB. 1988, 552), Sections C and F; Ships Order 1965
(STR. 1965, 367 amended by STB. 1992, 35). 9. Proposed date of adoption
and entry into force: 15 March 1995. 10. Final date for comments: 1
