The IHS, Alaska Area Native Health Service requires a professional management firm with extensive experience in the areas of equipment purchasing and occupancy planning for medical centers with both comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, to provide Supplemental Project Management/Construction Administration Services. A new Alaska Native Medical Center is currently under construction, with an anticipated completion date of August, 1996. At 150 beds and 345,000 square feet, the new facility will be approximately twice the size of the existing facility. Work to be performed consists of furnishing all labor and materials to: (1) Develop a comprehensive transition plan that considers move strategies, continuity of service, staff training and orientation requirements, and schedules for new program policies and procedures developed by the IHS; (2) Scheduling and coordination of training (provided by General Contractor) on all building systems for facility engineering and maintenance staff; (3) Master project scheduling for all project related IHS activities; and (4) Coordination and direction of actual move to new facility. This acquisition is set-aside for American Indian/Alaska Native owned firms under the authority of the Buy Indian Act. The degree of American Indian/Alaska Native ownership shall be not less than 51 percent. A background in medical facilities experience is highly recommended and medical facilities experience will be a major factor in the technical evaluation criteria. American Indian/Alaska Native owned firms are encouraged to joint venture with firms specializing in medical facilities. The contractor shall be required to perform not less than 50 percent of the work. A list of firms available for joint venture and sample joint ventures are available upon request.
