Thompson, Contracting Officer (301) 713-0823 Advanced Notification by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is hereby issued identifying NOAA intention to award a contract for Systems Engineering and Technical Support Services in support of the National Weather Service (NWS) and the Systems Acquisition Office (SAO). This effort is currently being provided under NOAA Contract 50-DGNW-2-00054. The programs to be supported are managed by the NWS Transition Program Office (TPO), the Office of Systems Operations (OSO), and the program offices of the Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) and the Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS). The programs cover: (1) automated weather observation systems, (2) weather forecast information systems, (3) the complex communications necessary for transmission of extensive national guidance products and meteorological and hydrological data from satellite, radar, or data collection centers to the various forecast offices across the nation and, (4) the restructuring of Weather Service field operations and facilities. The resultant contract shall be awarded for one base year with options to extend performance by four one-year periods. A Draft Request For Proposal (DRFP) is not anticipated. The solicitation is planned for release O/A June 27, 1995. A Pre-Proposal Conference will occur approximately two weeks after solicitation issuance. Solicitation closing date is expected O/A August 21, 1995. Public advertising of the solicitation will occur in a follow-up Commerce Business Daily synopsis O/A May 17, 1995. (0032)
