The base bid includes upgrading the tunnel fire alarm system; providing a new communications system;replacing electrical receptacles;upgrading the tunnel ventilation system;upgrading and sealing the tunnel hatches; constructing new structural crossovers, exhaust vents, and exitways. New underground runs of steam and condensate lines within the tunnel and associated asbestos insulation abatement will also be included in the project. Additive 1 will be repair of several concrete cracks and expansion joints in the tunnel floor, wall, and ceiling. Additive 2 will be the construction of a single structural concrete crossover.
