16 -- PROCUREMENT OF EHSIS FOR P-3 AIRCRAFT POC Contact, Paul Severino, Phone (703)604-2000 The Naval Air Systems Command intends to procure approximately 600 Electronic Horizontal Situation Indicators (EHSIs) for P-3 aircraft from Allied Signal Incorporated. The EHSI shall be a Non-Developmental Item (NDI) with ARINC 429 interface for Global Positioning Systems per GPS-ICD-073. The display shall use active matrix liquid crystal technology and be manufactured by a domestic supplier. the display shall be at least 3.9 inches by 3.9 inches with external bezel dimensions less than 5.5 inches (width) and 5.1 inches (height). The depth of the EHSI into the instrument panel shall not exceed 9 inches. Contract award is planned to occur in September 1995. Units for Navy test/integration shall be available 90 days after contract award, with delivery of production units in September 1996. Allied Signal Incorporated is the only known source capable of providing this unit as an NDI item meeting the P-3's requirement. See note No. 22 - NAVAIR Synopsis No. 50027-95. (0033)
