The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division St. Indigoes, Maryland has a requirement for 1,024 each Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), Product # SATFIND-406 S-1015 Survival EPIRB Category 2. This EPIRB is restricted to size and weight limitations determined by the Navy of (1) a length of 11 in. by a diameter of 5 in. and (2) 3 lbs. in weight. This requirement will be negotiated as a sole source with Alden Electronics, Westborough, MA. Alden Electronics is the only known manufacturer producing an EPIRB that functions on the COSPAS-SARSAT Satelite System and conforms to the stringent size and weight limitations imposed by the U.S. Navy. The closing date is for estimating purposes only and may be revised as indicated in the RFP.
