Shoe at (404)842-6636 The purpose of this contract is to determine antimicrobial resistance patterns in isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae obtained from patients with invasive pneumococcal disease as well as in isolates obtained from sputum and from nasopharyngeal specimens collected in community surveys. Contractor shall perform MIC testing to several specified antimicrobial drugs using broth dilution techniques and document quality control measures. Clinical materials will be those obtained in conjunction with multistate population-based surveillance for invasive pneumococcal disease. The scheduled issue date is approximately March 1, 1995.
