D -- MONOCHROME LAPTOP COMPUTERS SOL 9BI236506P POC FRAN MAHAN, Tel:713-483-2338 Contracting Officer:RON JOHNSON, Tel:713-483-4164 NASA/Johnson Space Center (JSC) intends to award a contract for the purchase of eleven Winbook XP Monochrome Laptop Computers to the Winbook Computer Corp. The Winbook Corp is the only known source of the Winbook XP Monochrome Laptop Computer, and The Winbook XP is the only known laptop computer that can satisfy all the Government's requirements for the Space Shuttle's Program support of the Shuttle/MIR project. These requirements are: a minimum i486DX2/50 microprocessor; a monochrome display; resolution 640X480, 1meg video memory and 64 shades of gray, minimum; minimum 16MB RAM; minimum 1 serial/1 parallel/1PS2 mouse & keyboard/1 video/docking station ports; minimum 2 PCMCIA type II/1 PCMCIA type III slot; travel weight maximum 7 pounds; ethernet interface, 10base T support, w/driver software; minimum internal 14,400 bps modem v.32/v.42 bis compatible; a pointing stick pointing device that does not require a snap-in mouse attachment with cables; a built in wrist support for extended computer use; an internal/nickel hydride battery with a minimum battery life of 7 hours; minimum 400 MB IDE internal hard drive; minimum internal VGA capable (1024X768); and Engery Star compliant. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability in responding to the requirements by submitting their proposals. All proposals submitted within 15 days of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is soley within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered soleyly for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No contract will be awarded on the basis of the responses received from this notice, since this notice cannot be consider ed a formal soliciation document.
