70 -- MODIFICATION TO FORE SYSTEMS ATM SWITCH SOL 52SBNB5C8578 POC Diane Loeb (301) 975-6399/Cindy Carbaugh (301) 975-6337 This MODIFICATION is to the January 10, 1995 announcement of the government's intent to procure on a sole source basis with Fore Systems, Inc. The procurement is for research purposes and not merely to provide ATM connectivity to our network. Members of the group involved have had the SOURCE CODE for the protocol implementation on the Fore Systems equipment since the beginning of our program which is in excess of one year and have extensively instrumented the code with measurement points for the purpose of our experiments. The switch must be able to interwork with all existing ATM network interface cards on terminal equipment without change. Any substitution on this procurement away from a Fore Systems platform would erase a substantial amount of the effort we have put in to ATM research thus far. (0034)
