Preparedness Association (703) 522-1820. An advance planning briefing
for industry (APBI) covering the dodchemical/biological (CB) program
will be conducted on 29-30 March 1995 at the Kossiakoff Center, Johns
Hopkins applied physics laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. It will be
hosted by the U.S. Chemical and Biological Defense Command (CBDCOM),
but will also include briefings from other services. The keynote
speakers will be Dr. Harold Smith, Assistant Secretary of Defense
(atomic energy) (CB matters) and MG George E. Friel, Commander of
CBDCOM. Briefings will address the CB defense programs of the Army,
Navy, Air Force and Marines. CB defense includes detection and
identification of CB agents, protection against the effects of CB
agents. Other topics to be discussed are smoke/obscuration systems,
chemical warfare treaty verification, chemical demilitarization and
environmental remediation. The APBI is designed to provide management,
marketing and technical representatives from industry with acquisition
requirements and strategies and specific contracting opportunities over
