The Environmental Protection Agency intends to a award a contract for a preparative gas chromatograph system to purify synthesized volatile organic compounds labeled deuterium, 13C, or 14C as well as to purify metabolite preparations for identification purposes. The instrument must provide for sample introduction via metering pump or manual injection and have a throughput of sample purification ranging from 0.001 to 100 grams per hour. The instrument oven must be capable of maintaining a maximum temperature of 300 degrees celcius and accomadate up to eight 1 meter long and 1 centimeter diameter columns. A computerized interface to the instrument must allow for ease of operation and provide for storage of routine operational parameters. Safety features including auto-shutdown and safety sensors indicating injector blockage, oven overheating and underheating, and loss of carrier or pneumatic gases must be incorporated into the instrument design. This is a total small business set-aside. The applicable SIC code is 3826 with a size standard of 500 employees. The solicitation will be issued approximately February 22, 1995.
