Y -- ALTERNATE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM, SHELBY, NEBRASKA SOL DACW45-95-B-0042 DUE 032895 POC HTW Branch, 402/221-4266, Contracting Division. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Demolition of existing well house (9.33 SF x 8 ft high wood trim construction); removal of existing well pump; site work; grading, and construction of a new water treatment facility. The facility will include an 500 gpm air stripping tower for removal of carbon tetrachloride from the contaminated water source (39 ppb to 5 ppb), a reinforced concrete chlorine contact basin, a 500 gpm deep- vertical turbine pump for pumping the treated water to the elevated storage tank, 900 LF of 6-inch water line to the elevated storage tank, a vault below the elevated storage tank for the installation of a pressure transducer for measuring the level of water in the tank and a new control system to coordinate the operation of the equipment and water level control. The treatment facility will be housed inside a new 28 ft x 28 ft pre-engineered heated metal building (12 ft side wall low elevation and 16 ft 8 in sidewall high elevation). The estimated construction cost of this project is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. Bid sets will be available on/a February 24, 1995. Half-size plans and specifications will be furnished upon request and receipt of payment of $26.00 per set (non-refundable) with check made payable to ''Omaha District, Corps of Engineers.''
