MERRITT, (708)688-2600x121, Additional Contact, Plans & Specs Request Line, (708)688-5716x 4 PRESOLICITATION NOTICE #1: THE WORK INCLUDES THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FACILITY OF APPROXIMATELY 2400 SF, INSTALLATION ASPHALTIC PAVING APPROXIMATELY 3700 SF, AND REMOVAL OF A SECTION OF AN EXISTING CHAIN LINK FENCE AND REPLACEMENT WITH A 20' GATE AT THE MARINE CORPS RESERVE CENTER, CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AND INCIDENTAL RELATED WORK. WITHIN THE DESIGN/CONTRACTOR'S SCOPE OF WORK WILL BE THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FACILITY (VMF) WILL BE A ONE-STORY, STEEL FRAMED BUILDING WITH BRICK VENEER ON CMU WALLS, CMU INTERIOR WALLS WITH ALUMINUM DOORS AND FRAMES, CONCRETE SPREAD FOOTINGS FOUNDATION WALLS, AND SLAB ON GRADE. THE VMF WILL ALSO HAVE 7' HIGH MEZZANINE WITH A POSTED LIVE LOAD OF 150 PSF AND HAVE A METAL ACCESS STAIRS (NON-SKID SURFACE). THE 20' GATE WILL MATCH THE EXISTING CHAIN LINK FENCE AND THE ASPHALTIC PAVING WILL MATCH THE EXISTING ASPHALTIC PAVING AND INCIDENTAL RELATED WORK. THE LOCATION OF INTERIOR WALLS, DOORS, WINDOWS, AND BUILT-IN COMPONETS SHALL BE AS INDICATED AND SPECIFIED. TOTAL WITHIN EXTERIOR WALL AREA, INCLUDING MEZZANINE, TO BE PROVIDED SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 2400 SQUARE FEET. THE WORK TO BE DONE BY THE DESIGNER/CONTRACTOR WILL INCLUDE ALL DESIGN AND ENGINEERING WORK REQUIRED TO OBTAIN APPROVAL AND CERTIFICATION FROM NAVY PUBLIC WORKS CENTER, GREAT LAKES. ALL DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS, WILL BE PREPARED BY THE DESIGNER/CONTRACTOR AND SUBMITTED FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF INSTALLATIONS WORK. ONCE THE FINAL DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE FACILITY HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE NAVY PUBLIC WORKS CENTER, GREAT LAKES, THE CONTRACTOR WILL PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE BUILDING FOR THE COMPLETE MAINTENANCE FACILITY. UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT AND FINAL ACCEPTANCE BY THE CUSTOMER, THE DESIGNER/CONTRACTOR WILL DELIVER TO NAVY PUBLIC WORKS CENTER, GREAT LAKES, ONE COMPLETE SET OF ''AS-BUILT'' DRAWINGS AND ONE COMPLETE SET OF THESE SAME DRAWINGS ON COMPUTER FLOPPY DISC FORMATED IN DXF FORMAT. THE SIC CODE FOR THIS PROCUREMENT IS 1541. THIS PROCUREMENT IS BEING CONSIDERED FOR 100% SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL DISADVANTAGE BUSINESS (SDB) CONCERNS. INTERESTED SDB CONCERNS SHOULD, AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, BUT NO LATER THAN 15 DAYS, INDICATE INTEREST IN THE ACQUISITION IN WRITING BY PROVIDING TO THE CONTRACTING OFFICE ABOVE A POSITIVE STATEMENT OF YOUR INTENT TO BID. YOU MUST ALSO PROVIDE EVIDENCE OF CAPABILITY TO PERFORM INCLUDING A REFERENCE FOR PRIOR CONTRACT WORK OF SIMILAR SIZE AND COMPLEXITY AND A POSITIVE STATEMENT OF ELIGIBILITY AS A SMALL, SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGE BUSINESS CONCERN. YOU ALSO NEED TO FURNISH A LETTER FROM YOUR BONDING COMPANY INDICATING THEIR INTENT TO PROVIDE THE NECESSARY BONDING FOR PERFORMING THIS CONTRACT AND A BANK REFERENCE INCLUDING A POINT OF CONTACT. IF ADEQUATE INTEREST IS NOT RECEIVED FROM SDB CONCERNS, THE SOLICITATION WILL BE ADVERTISED AND ISSUED AS AN UNRESTRICTED PROCUREMENT WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE. ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST RANGE IS BETWEEN $250,000.00 AND $500,000.00. (0038)
