Philadelphia, intends to acquire through full and open competition, 20
each, PERTEC COMPATIBLE 8mm MAGNETIC TAPE UNITS, WITH THE FOLLOWING
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The Tape Transport must be Compatible with
Exabyte Model 8505. Must be available in Table-Top and 19'' Rack-Mount
Models. Must have a Full Function Status Display Panel. Must be
Compatible with a Standard Pertec Interface. Must have a 1600 Bits Per
Inch Mode. Must Perform All Functions Currently Performed by the
Shipboard Non-Tactical Automated Data Processing Program (SNAP) II
9-Track Magnetic Unit, Including System Back-Ups, SNAP II Diagnostics,
System Generation and Reading and Writing Files. The Unit must be
Capable of Replacing the Existing 9-Track Tapes Without Any Loss of
Functionality. All Functions Must Be Able To Be Performed Without Any
Hardware or Software Setup Changes or Switch Position Changes. Tapes
Produced By The Unit Must Be Able To Be Read On Ported SNAP Systems and
SNAP Systems II, and Vice Versa. Each Unit Must Contain Cable Adapters
To Allow Connection To Existing Installed System Cables. Must Perform
All Required Operations When Connected to the Harris Magnetic Tape
Controller (Harris part number 730-1570623-902) and the Harris
Integrated Tape Controller (Harris part number 730-1571460-902). There
Shall Be NO Hardware or Software Changes Necessary When The Unit IS
Moved From a Harris Magnetic Tape Controller (Harris part number
730-1570623-902) to a Harris Integrated Tape Controller (Harris part
number 730-1571460-902), and Vice Versa. Each Unit Must Be Individually
Packaged, and Marked On The Outside Of The Package With The Name Of The
Manufacturer, Model Number, Part Number and Serial Number. Each Unit
Must Contain An Operators Manual That Matches The Unit's Model Number,
Part Number And Revision. Supplier must Provide Instructions For The
Removal Of The 9-Track Tape and Installation For The Installation Of
The 8MM Tape. These Instructions Must Include, as a Mimimum: Removal of
Existing 9-Track Tape Unit; Installation of the 8mm Tape Unit Including
Power and Data Cable Connections; Installation Of Rack Filler Panel.
Supplier shall Provide Information Necessary For The Production Of A
Rack Mount Blank Panel To Fill The Void Left By Removal Of The 9-Track
Tape Unit. All Units of the Same Model Must Be Identical, Including
All Switch Settings. All Units Must Contain A Power Cable. The supplier
must provide repair services for the unit. Repair Services offered must
include expected turnaround time, prices and contacts and addresses
where repairs can be obtained. Each unit must have an identification
label, mounted on the exterior of the unit case that identifies the
unit manufacturer, model number, part number and serial number. Must
have a Mean Time to Repair of 15 minutes or less. Must have a Mean Time
Between Failures in excess of 150,000 hours. Must operate on 120 Volts,
60 Hertz Power. The required delivery schedule is 45 days after date of
contract; for delivery to COMBSUBLANT Staff Supply, 7958 Blandy Road,
Norfolk, VA. 23551-2492. The applicable Standard Classification Number
is 3572. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be
