Information Systems (LSIS) is seeking qualified sources to provide a
product in support of the NASA Johnson Space Center under Contract No.
NAS 9-18300. LSIS is requesting information concerning a COTS Status
and Control Tool, consisting of management tool, server agent and
graphical user interface display functions which are capable of
supporting real-time operations. This Status and Control Tool will be
used by NASA personnel in support of institutional operations
associated with flight operations for both the Space Shuttle and Space
Station Programs. The product must meet or exceed the following
mandatory requirements: The product must provide for the support of
real-time operations with event data sent to a management console by
intelligent agents on managed stations independent of polling by the
management console; Data and commands between management console and
managed agents will be transported across a local area network, the
product must support the TCP/IP communications protocol and operate
across FDDI and Ethernet local area networks; The product must run
continuously during mission operations; The software must be available
on a variety of UNIX platforms. As a minimum, the software must be
available on DECStations under ULtrix, DEC Alphas under OSF Versions 2
and 3, IBM RS/6000 under AIX, and SUN under SunOS; The product must
provide the capability to extend monitoring to other UNIX applications
based on the existence, non-existence or information contained in a
given UNIX file or process. The product must include the ability to use
existing and new UNIX shell scripts and C and C++ programs. The product
must also provide portability of display formats, configuration files,
and status data among supported platforms; The product must support
data display and control interaction capabilities on the same display
without requiring development of display specific software. Also, the
display product must be based on the target workstation(s) OS X window
and Motif versions as appropriate; The product must be able to
propagate alarms and events to the POLYCENTER Manager on NetView, and
allow viewing of the console window from the POLYCENTER Manager on a
NetView display; The product must support remote logon to all managed
systems; Resources managed must include processes, CPU, memory usage,
disks, network load, users, file system utilization, kernel tables,
security and printers. The product must support printer query and
maintenance commands; The product must be able to recognize and monitor
custom developed applications; The product must log the operational
status of managed servers; The product must display critical resource
utilization; The product must activate an alarm when a server
application switches frm nominal to critical status (up to down); The
product must provide an alarm override; The product must support
configurable reporting rates and the product must have the capability
to automatically discover all managed applications on monitored
machines. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP); it is a request for
information and planning purposes only. LSIS does not intend to issue
a purchase order on the basis of this request, or to pay or otherwise
