Washington, D.C. 20590 A -- DESIGN CONSISTENCY EVALUATION MODULE FOR THE INTERACTIVE HIGHWAY
SAFETY DESIGN MODEL (IHSDM) SOL RFP No., DTFH61-95-R-00084 DUE 052295
POC Contact Lise S. Lyles, HCP-30A, (202) 366-4229 A - Design
Consistency Evaluation Module for the IHSDM. The objectives of this
research are to: 1) Develop and validate speed- profile models for
two-lane rural highways that account for the combined effects of
horizontal and vertical alignment, vehicle type, and ambient operating
conditions. 2) Identify appropriate interactions between the
speed-profile models developed and other components of the IHSDM. 3)
Develop at least two alternative CAD- based methods (other than
speed-profile analysis) for rating the design consistency of two-lane
rural highways. 4) Evaluate correlations between predicted speed
variations, other aggregate consistency measures, and reported accident
histories for representative sections of two-lane rural highways. 5)
Participate in the upgrading and demonstration of the IHSDM's Design
Consistency Module. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which
shall be considered by FHWA. The requestor's DUNS number should be
included in the request. To expedite the request, please furnish two
self-addressed gummed labels for each solicitation requested. The
solicitation number should appear on the bottom edge of the labels.
