Procurement and Contracts, Mail Stop 205A, Room 6A331, 12201 Sunrise
Valley Drive, Reston, VA 22092 66 -- READVERTISEMENT OF PYROLYSIS AND ORGANIC CARBON DETERMINATOR
INSTRUMENT SOL 9008 DUE 033295 POC Cindy Sather
(703-648-7361)(contact)Brian Heath(CO) U.S. Geological Survey is
readvertising its IFB requirement (previously appearing in the CBD on
June 9, 1994) for the following ''brand name or equal'' pyrolysis and
organic carbon determinator instrument. System to be purchased:
ROCK-EVAL II manufactured by Humble Instruments of Humble, TX. The
contract shall include installation and operator and maintenance
training on site in Moscow, Russia. Salient characteristics are:
Microprocessor-based instrument using the IFP-FINA process of whole
rock pyrolysis equipped with organic carbon module that determines
total organic carbon directly by combustion on same sample that is used
for the pyrolysis procedure. The autosampler system must be capable of
transferring the sample crucibles successively to the pyrolysis oven,
then to the oxidation oven (organic carbon determination), and back
again to the autosampler carriage. Must be constructed of metal with
autosampler that can run 48 samples automatically. Sample containers to
be constructed also of metal and will accommodate samples in the 1 to
200 mg range. Microprocessor must have capability for self-diagnosis
and trouble shooting of the whole system. Must have built in minimum of
4 pyrolysis cycles. Performs following pyrolysis analysis
automatically: volalitization of free hydrocarbons detected by flame-
ionization detector, thermal cracking of kerogen during high
temperature pyrolysis step, trapping of carbon dioxide produced during
pyrolysis with trap shut-off controllable, purge of carbon dioxide
trap and determination of carbon dioxide content of samples using a
thermal conductivity detector. Unit shall operate on 220V, 50HZ.
Installation, spare parts and operable consumable parts kits shall be
included. Solicitation No. 9008 is presently available and has a
closing date of March 31, 1995. Requests for Solicitation No. 9008
shall be in writing (phone requests will not be honored). Requests may
also be made by facsimile to (703) 648-7901 (telephone confirmation is
recommended). Previous requests for this solicitation need not be
resubmitted. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall
be considered by the agency. (0045) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0209 19950215\66-0003.SOL)
