COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 16,1995 PSA#1285Naval Research Laboratory, Attn: Code 3220.HA 4555 Overlook Avenue, SW
Washington, DC 20375-5326 66 -- TRACE ELEMENT ACCELERATOR MASS SPECTROMETER SOL N00014-95-R-HA01
POC Hilda Abdon, Contract Specialist, Code 3220.HA, Contracting
Officer, Wayne A. Carrington (202) 767-2550. The Naval Research
Laboratory (NRL) wishes to add a Trace Element Accelerator Mass
Spectrometer (TEAMS) capability to its existing tandem ion accelerator
facility, without adversely affecting the existing capabilities of
this facility. The tandem accelerator is a National Electrostatics
Corporation 9SDH-2 machine purchased in 1987, with a 3MV terminal
potential. NRL intends to negotiate on a full and open competition for
a high-energy-ion beamline as an add- on subsystem. This subsystem
includes line items for major ion- optical components which include one
electrostatic Quadrupole Triplet, two sets of x-y steerers and one
electrostatic analyzer. Additional items include: beam-pipe, flanges,
nipples, tees, crosses, bellows, slits, Faraday cups, isolation valves,
roughing valves, vacuum gauges, vacuum pumps and compressors, an
oil-free roughing pump and power supplies. This subsystem is capable of
High-energy-ion transport and filtering which is just one group of six
different subsystems. Each of the different subsystems should be self
contained and must integrate completely with each other and with the
existing facility. An overriding consideration in all of these
subsystems is the necessity to transmit as much of the beams of
interest as possible (100% is desired). Each Ion Optical component is
to include adequate ion optical elements, support structures, alignment
tools, vacuum capability chamber and flanges, manuals, and safety
protection devices to enable useful operation of the equipment.
Detailed description and specifications of this subsystem will be
provided in the solicitation. No telephone requests for this
requirement will be accepted. Request for a copy must be submitted in
writing to the Naval Research Laboratory, Attn: Code 3220.HA, 4555
