D -- SOFTWARE SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT AND MAINTENANCE SERVICES POC Maggie Russell (Contracting Officer) (703) 648-7366 The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Mapping Division (NMD) anticipatesextending their existing contract (contract # 14-08-0001-23511) with Computer ScienceCorporation (CSC), for on-site software systems development and maintenance services, for aperiod of up to six months (April 1, 1995 through September 30, 1995). The services to beperformed in this time period are anticipated to be at a reduced level from the servicescurrently being performed. These services include but are not limited to the following:development and maintenance of applications software necessary to support implementationand optimization of geographic and cartographic systems used in geodetic surveys,photogrammetric mapping, digital cartographic data production, and automated cartography;provide reports including, but not limited to, plans, schedules, procedures, and resources;provide project management and supervision, including the full range of personnelmanagement actions for its staff; provide in-process quality assurance; assist in design ofconfiguration changes; assist in ADP requirements definition; furnish training to Contractorpersonnel and to USGS personnel on applications developed or modified; provide requiredcomputer programs, documentation, and reports; and follow all guidelines for physicalsecurity and data security. The Contractor will continue to furnish all necessary labor,facilities, and materials to support development and maintenance of applications software andrelated technical documentation for the Office of the Assistant Division Chief for ProductionOperations, NMD. The Government believes that Computer Sciences Corporation is the onlyfirm that can meet the Government's needs for this six (6) month period while a newprocurement is in process. The USGS has a procurement currently in process for Modernization Engineering and Development Support (MEDS) services. The servicescurrently being provided under the above referenced contract will be obtained via a deliveryorder under the MEDS program which is to be competitively awarded. It is furtheranticipated that there will be a one month overlap period during which the incumbentcontractor (CSC) will provide an orderly transition of the ongoing projects/functions to thenew contractor. The overlap period will begin on the day the new contractor is awarded adelivery order under a MEDS contract. Responses will be evaluated for the ability to providethe services as described above. This notice is for information purposes only. Request forProposal (RFP) is not available. This notice may represent the Government's only officialnotice of this contract action.
