The Virginia Contracting Activity on behalf of the Defense Intelligence Agency, intends to award a firm-fixed-price contract with Fore Systems for a system upgrade to DIA owned Fore System Forerunner ASX-100 switch hardware and software. This upgrade consists of new ASX-200 form factor methods and software to upgrade DIA's existing ASX-100 form factor netmods and the following additional Hardware/Software: ASX-100 OC-12 netmod for DIA's existing ASX-100 Forerunner ATM/SONET switch. Maintenance service for existing DIA Fore Systems hardware and software. Vendors that can provide hardware/software and maintenance with similar functionality to Fore Systems hardware/software and maintenance must submit their proposals for consideration within fifteen (15) days of issuance of this synopsis. If a vendor desires to respond to this synopsis, he must referece MDA908-95-R-0047, submit documentation which demonstrates the firms ability to meet the Government's requirement and that it is advantageous to the Government to consider such other sources. No contract award will be made on the basis of offers or any other information received in response to this notice because this synopsis of intent to place an order will not be considered a solicitation document. If no affirmative written documentation, technical specifications and pricing are received within fifteen (15) days of this synopsis, to the effect that a comparable source is available or that it is more advantageous to the government than purchasing the Fore Systems Hardware/software and maintenance, an order will be placed with Fore Systems; 6500 Rock Spring Drive; Bethesda MD.
