70 -- VENDOR CONFERENCE POC Frances Toole NOTIFICATION OF VENDOR CONFERENCE - The Bureau of the Census extends an invitation to the vendor community to attend the first of two planned vendor conferences. These conferences are for information dissemination purpose in preparation for a future acquisition of a large scale, imaged based, data capture system to support the Year 2000 Decennial Census. This first vendor conference is scheduled for April 24, 1995, and the second will be scheduled later this year. The RFP is currently targeted for July 1996. The BOC's current plans include the data capture of 1-1.5 billion pages from paper questionnaires during a 100-day period using digital imaging technology. The BOC wishes to inform and solicit input from the vendor community regarding our current planning activities. The BOC will also present technical results and requirements-to-date based on its ongoing research into large scale, imaged based, data capture systems. Attendance at the conference is to be by reservation only. Reservations MUST be requested in writing to the attention of Mrs. Frances Toole at the above address. Please indicate the number of persons that will attend. Seating is limited.
