The U.S. Geological Survey is seekinginformation on potential small business manufacturers and/or regular dealers capable ofmeeting the USGS's requirement for the following various types of hardware peripherals underthe DIS-II+ program: black and white laser printers (high-resolution); color printers (high-resolution); color scanners; CD-jukeboxes; compact disc-recordable (CD-R); digitizingtablets; film recorders; RAID (disk-array storage system); and WMRM (write many-read many).At a minimum, these peripherals shall be fully compatible with USGS-owned Unix hardwareplatforms (DG-AViiON, SUN microsystems, Silicon Graphics, Hewlett-Packard, IBM RS/6000),Personal computers, power PCs, and Macintosh's current and official operating system releasesand fonts. These peripherals shall be installed across a wide geographical area (thecontinental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, and any US territories). In addition to providingthe hardware peripherals, contractors will be required to provide hardware and/or softwaremaintenance (monthly, on-call, and depot) and central site telephone support service (24hours/day, 7 day/week). Small business firms who believe they can provide hardwareperipherals of the types listed above and meet the wide geographical area maintenancerequirements are requested to submit an affirmative response within 20 days of thepublication date of this notice. The information obtained as a result of this announcementwill be used in determining the set-aside status of the procurements and/or the feasibilityof obtaining a non-manufacturing waiver from the Small Business Administration. No formalsolicitation or contract will result from this synopsis for information. Any subsequentsolicitations will be synopsize prior to release. The Government does not intend to pay forthe information solicited except as provided in subsection 31.205-18, Bid and Proposal (B&P)costs, of the Federal Acquisition Regulation. (0046)
