66 -- SULFUR ANALYZER SOL 8132 DUE 042195 POC Ms. Cindy Sather (703) 648-7361 (contact) Mr. Brian Heath (703) 648-7362 (CO) The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for the following ''brand name or equal'' Sulfur Analyzer. Equal item must meet salient characteristics of brand name. Analyzer to be installed at the Central Laboratory in Yerevan, Armenia. The analyzer is Preiser Scientific, Houston Atlas Model 880-M Sulfur Analyzer, which accepts sample size of 0.5 grams, containing up to 4% sulfur, have a sulfur range of 0.005 to 99.99%, analysis within approximately 2 mintues, provides accuracy to q 1% of sample sulfur content, meets ASTM D 4239-94 specifications, or LECO Corporation, Model Number SC-432 Digital Reading IR Sulfur Determinator for Coal, Coke, Ore, Hydrocarbons and other materials, with LECO 050 Electronic Balance, Automatic Weight Compensator and Printer assembly or equal. Salient characteristics are: (1) A semi-automatic system for analyzing sulfur by a high temperature oxidative combustion method with non-dispersive infrared absorption detection which meets ASTM D 4239-94 standard methods, (2) a system which introduces oxygen through the combustion tube, draws the combustion gases passing them through a narrow band optical filter, and places them in a sample chamber to be measured by a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) detector, (3) a compact system which has a built-in integral electronic balance with automatic tare and printer and a micro-computer processor with a LCD display and a separate keypad for sample information, (4) a furnace system with a temperature range of 400 degrees C to 1550 degrees C, (5) a system which allows a sample size of 0.5 grams for samples containing up to 4% sulfur. Delivery, installation, and training with Russian-speaking technical personnel in Yerevan, Armenia to occur in June 1995. Solicitation No. 8132 will be available on or about March 21, 1995, with the closing date 30 days after issuance. Requests for Solicitation No. 8132 shall be in writing.
