COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 21,1995 PSA#1287GOVERNMENT WIDE EDI/EC VENDOR CONFERENCE POC: Sue Geoghegan, EC
Specialist, (301) 903-0051, Richard Irvin, Procurement Analyst, (202)
586-9953. The President of the United States has mandated the
streamlining of procurement in the Federal Government through
Electronic Commerce (EC) by 1997. In accordance with this mandate the
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is requiring all small purchase vendors
(contractors) to be Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) capable by
12/31/95. DOE along with many other U.S. Government agencies is
adopting EDI as the primary means of solicitation and award of small
purchases, beginning in 1995. DOE is inviting your company to become an
EDI capable vendor, thus an EDI Trading Partner. To learn more about
EDI and the government requirements, DOE is sponsoring a government
wide EDI Vendor conference. Meet representatives from several agencies
including DOE, DOD, EPA, SBA and more. An EDI seminar will be held
which will include information on how to get started in EDI. The
conference will be held on 3/2/95 at the Sheraton Hotel in Reston, VA
beginning at 8:30 a.m. It's free to register for the conference. If
attending, please FAX your company name, address, contact point, number
of persons attending, E-Mail address and FAX number to Ms. Sue
Geoghegan at (301) 903-2024. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0378 19950217\SP-0003.MSC)
