COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF FEBRUARY 22,1995 PSA#1288National Institute of Standards and Technology, Acquisition &
Assistance Division, Building 301, Room B117, Gaithersburg, MD 20899 66 -- OPTICAL MEASUREMENT CAPABILITY SOL 52SBNB5C8648 DUE 050195 POC
Catherine Poole, Contract Specialist (301) 975-4154 The National
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to procure a new
facility for state-of-the-art measurement of optical surface shape, or
figure for: (1) flat, spherical, and conic (i.e. parabolas,
ellipsoids, etc.) optical surfaces to 1 nm peak-to-valley (PV)
accuracy. (2) 300 mm maximum diameter aspheres with moderate departure
from the best fit plane, or section of a sphere or conic (ellipsoid,
parabola, hyperbola) to an absolute accuracy of 1 nm PV. ''Moderate
departure'' is defined as no departure giving a greater slope than 31
nm/pixel for a fully filled 500 pixel diameter detector in a Fizeau or
Twyman-Green interferometer. (3) General atmospheres to 20 nm PV
absolute accuracy. Based on current technical understanding, it is
assumed that the best approach is to use a phase measuring
interferometer operating with visible light and in combination with a
system of precision slideways. It is emphasized, however, that NIST
desires to procure an optics measurement capability; any alternate
technical proposal which meets the accuracy requirements will be
considered. The Government intends to award a cost-plus-fixed-fee,
design-build contract. Requests for the solicitation shall be written
and mailed to the above address. All responsible sources may submit a
proposal which shall be considered by the agency. (0048) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0414 19950221\66-0001.SOL)
