D -- INTERNET SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE SOL 51-SOBC-5-00004 POC Carol Kukich, (301) 457-1864 The Bureau of the Census (BOC) intends to issue a competitive IFB for the acquisition of a regional network in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area to provide access to the Internet/National Research Educational Network (INT/NREN). This requirement is for the purchase, installation (hardware & software), testing and maintenance of at least a 10 megabit per second (MBPS), ethernet- type connection between the BOC in Suitland, MD and other BOC locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area and the Internet. Due to the anticipated growth and interest in access to the Internet, the BOC's requirement may increase to connectivity rates in excess of 10 MBPS. This requirement is for a base period of one year with four one-year options to extend the term of the contract. The planned issuance date is at least 15 days from the date of publication of this notice and closing no sooner than 30 days thereafter.
