PRC Inc. in execution of Contract No. 50-SAPT-4-00319 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Department of Commerce, hereby issues a sources sought request with the intent to procure one 45GB of 3390 class DASD for USPTO under a firm fixed price vehicle. The Automated Patent System is a mainframe based, text and image search and retrieval system. The current system runs on an Amdahl 5990-1100 and Amdahal Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD) which is completely compatible with IBM's MVS/ESA 4.3, MVS SP 1.3.6 (native mode), and DFP 3.3.1. USPTO has a requirement to acquire 45GB of 3390 class DASD to absorb increases in processing load. The Offeror shall bid either a new or used DASD and all necessary cabling. The Offeror shall propose installation. The Offeror shall propose a six month warranty on the new or used equipment. Any used equipment must be certified maintainable by the OEM. The proposed DASD shall have an availability of 99 percent over a 13.5 hour day, Monday through Saturday from 6:30AM to 8:00PM (local time). Offeror shall propose 24 hours x 7 days a week, 2 hour response time maintenance for the warranty period.
