Privott, 804/441-6560 The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Waterfront Services/Maine Maritime Academy, Castine Maine, for ten days (August 5-14, 1995) shiptime on the R/V ARGO MAINE to support the NOAA Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary research program focusing on the impacts of mobile fishing gear on benthic habitats in the Sanctuary. Authority: 41 USC 253(c)(1). The R/V ARGO MAINE operated by the Maine Maritime Academy will be in the region of the Sanctuary for the University of Connecticut/National Undersea Research Center, is equipped for this type of research, and is the only known source capable of conducting the research during the timeframe specified. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within forty-five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Period of performance is August 5-14, 1995.
