notice for services for a US EPA Superfund project under contract No.
68-W8-0086 involving hazardous wastes associated with a former
pentachlorophenol wood treating facility in New Brighton, Minnesota.
The project implements an Interim Remedial Action at the MacGillis and
Gibbs/Bell Lumber and Pole Superfund dite. This acion requires the
removal of liquids and sludges fom 10 ASTs, 8 USTs, and 3 underground
equipment vaults (vaults), the decontamination of ASTs, USTs and
vaults, the demolition of the ASTs, one extraction well, a groundwater
extraction system, a non-aqueous phase liquid extraction system, waste
disposal, groundwater treatment system and discharge pressure main.
Construction is anticipated to be completed within 6 months of NTP and
O&M is to continue for 1 year. This description of the work to be
performed is not intended to be all encompassing for the total project.
A full description of the work to be completed is included in the
detailed plans and specifications (design sets) available from the
above stated address. Interested parties may obtain copies of design
sets upon payment of $100 in check or money order, in U.S. funds drawn
upon a U.S. bak for each complete set. Cash will not be accepted.
Request for design sets should be sent to the project manager, however,
design sets will not be sent until March 15, 1995. Bids will be due
approximately 30 days after March 15, 1995. Prospective bidders are
advised of the following conditions: 1) Personnel performing work on
the site will require medical monitoring and safety training in
compliance with 29 CFR 1910.120. 2) Site access is restricted. 3) A
pre-bid conference and site inspection will be scheduled approximately
one week after formal announcement of a Request for Bids is published
in the CBD and design sets are sent to interested parties. 4) A
statement of safety training and medical fitness in compliance with 29
CFR 1910.120 is required from all parties prior to entering upon the
site for any purpose. 5) All requests for information must be writing.
A formal respone to inquiries will be sent to interested parties
