EQUAL SOL N61331-95-R-0026 DUE 041395 POC Mary Kitchen, Contract
Specialist, (904)235-5389 Carol A. Dreger, Contracting Officer,
(904)234-4863. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division,
Coastal Systems Station, Panama City, Florida is soliciting proposals
for a firm-fixed price contract to provide one (1) each rapid
prototyping machine (RPM) tool, on a brand name or equal basis, to be
used in the fabrication of research and development engineering
prototype parts. Additionally, the vendor will be required to provide
any required ancillary equipment, bulk operating materials,
operation/maintenance documentation, and on-site maintenance. The
equipment must be equivalent to a 3-D Systems Inc. Model SLA-190 and
meet the following minimum performance and physical characteristics:
Electrical: 110 or 220 volt AC at 60 Hz. Size and weight: 48 inches X
72 inches not to exceed 800 lbs. Model Input Language and Method: The
RPM must be compatible with .STL (Stereolithography) files for common
solid modeling system software or provide an interface for the
following CAD/CAM software products; AUTOCAD, SDRC Ideas, Integraph
EMS. An input output/controller system for the machine should be able
to accept this data via local area network interface and through disk
drive input on standard floppy disk. Model Production Method: Machine
tool cutting of parts is unacceptable because of safety considerations.
Model Size Envelope: The RPM must be capable of producing a part of
size at least 7 inches by 7 inches by 9 inches and up to ten pounds in
weight. In addition, the production methods must accommodate the
ability to bond parts that exceed this envelope together to create
larger homogenous parts. Model Resolution: The RPM must be capable of
producing three dimensional parts within plus or minus 0.005 inches
tolerance typical and plus or minus 0.001 inches tolerance on precision
parts. The RPM must be capable of producing three dimensional parts
with a minimum wall thickness of 0.010 inches. The RPM must be capable
of producing surface finishes of 64 RMS or better on all surfaces of
the finished parts and 10 RMS or better on all upface surfaces without
post process finishing. Model Material Type: The finished part
material must possess sufficient yield strength and durability after
production to withstand normal handling. Material must allow for
homogenous bonds with like materials. Safety: The RPM and its operation
must comply with all applicable federal safety standards. Operation:
The RPM, once programmed and set up for operation, must be able to run
without an operator. This solicitation is Full and Open Competition -
