UTHOFF, (508)651-5286(datafax) The U.S. Army Natick Research, Development and Engineering Center has a requirement for a contractor to provide all necessary personnel, facilities, materials, and supplies to prepare 500 each of two different thermostabilized products: Chicken Breast Meat in Gravy (placable) and Spicy Chicken (pumpable) in institutional size pouches produced on a horizontal form/fill/seal machine. The food products shall be prepared in accordance with the Current Good Manufacturing Practice in Manufacturing, Processing Packing or Holding Human Food, under Title 21, Chapter 1, Subchapter B, Part 100 in the Code of Federal Regulations. The contractor shall select the material to be used for the institutional size pouch with government approval. The contractor shall be responsible for the design and test of a shipping container for the institutional size pouch which will be required to fit into a tray specified by Natick RD&E Center. The contractor will also be required to prepare a draft and final Technical and Scientific Report of its performance and findings in accordance with the DD Form 1423, Contract Data Requirements List and Section C, Scope of Work. The contractor shall be responsible for performing verification tests. The performance period for this effort shall be 90 days. This acquisition will be 100% set aside for small business. The Standard Industrial Code is 8731, and to qualify as a small business the contractor must have 500 employees or less.
